Influence

(noun) - the power to affect the way someone or something develops, behaves, or thinks without using direct force or orders.  Example: The Council had influence over many government decisions / Gayle's mother said I was a bad influence on her daughter.

(verb) - to affect the way someone or something develops, behaves, thinks etc without directly forcing or ordering them. Example: Several factors are likely to influence this decision.

Noun - a subject or problem that is often discussed or argued about, especially a social or political matter that affects the interests of a lot of people.
