This is the preparation material for an English conversation lesson about stereotypes.  A stereotype is an over generalized belief about a particular group of people.  There are many kinds of stereotypes but the most common ones are those to do with nationality, religion, age and gender.  Using stereotypes is a way to simplify our social world and they can help us to respond quickly to situations because we may have had a similar experience before. But one disadvantage is that it makes us ignore differences between individuals and we may judge a person without even knowing anything about them.

This is the preparation material for an English conversation lesson about superstitions.  Superstitions are irrational or unscientific beliefs about things that happen in daily life.  They cause us to act in strange ways or believe in unusual things. They have existed for thousands of years and even though many superstitions might seem silly to us today, they continue to influence our behaviour.  Superstitions vary from country to country and are usually related to things that are thought to bring us either good luck or bad luck.

This is the preparation material for an English conversation lesson about Body Language.  Body language is a form of non-verbal communication used between animals and humans and consists of postures, gestures, facial expressions, and eye movements.  Body language can tell us about the attitude or state of mind of a person. For example, it may indicate anger, depression, pleasure, confidence or nervousness.   Learning about body language is helpful in relationships, business, in family settings and parenting.  Although it is non-verbal, it can reveal a lot about your feelings and meaning to others and also how other others reveal their feelings toward you.  read more

This is the preparation material for an English conversation lesson about dreams.  Dreams are images, thoughts, sounds and voices, experienced when we sleep.  They may include people you know, people you've never met, places you've been, and places you've never even heard of.  Sometimes they're as simple as recalling events that happened earlier in the day.  At other times they can be strange and mysterious.  Some people believe that dreams give us special messages, others believe they reveal our fears and worries. Most scientists believe that dreams are a way for our brains to consolidate all the information we accumulate in our day-to-day lives. read more

This is the preparation material for an English conversation lesson about sleep.  When we sleep well, we wake up feeling refreshed and ready for our daily activities. Sleep affects how we look, feel and perform on a daily basis. Most people like to get about 8 hours of sleep a night but for some people this is not so easy! Some people have insomnia and are unable to sleep even if they are very tired. Other people work or party too hard and so they do not give themselves proper rest. For every person and animal, sleep has a major impact on our overall quality of life.
